Our Story

The Northwest Climate Gathering (NWCG) is an intergenerational group working to connect communities in Northwestern Ontario to take positive, solution-oriented climate action. The Northwest Climate Gathering was founded in August of 2023 to unite and re-energize climate action in the region. The first Gathering was held the weekend of November 25th in Thunder Bay, Ontario to precede COP28. We had 2 packed days, with over 300 people participating in-person and online, and with 50 leaders running workshops and ensuring the Gathering’s success. The second Annual event was held at Lakehead University in October 2024. The third will be held there as well October 18, 2025 with a bookclub the night before at Entershine Bookshop with Lloyd Alter discussing his book Living the 1.5 Degree Lifestyle
